"The Welly", a traditional English pub, was converted from two existing houses around 1800, probably at the time when the Duke of Wellington was the M.P. for Hastings.
Since the Duke used what is now the High Street Bazaar as his campaign offices and billetted his troops locally in The Croft, it is highly likely that he stayed at this pub.
Now you too can stay here as besides the usual games and summer lunches, the pub also offers Bed & Breakfast.
